It amazes me what a difference the Rotolight can make to a shot for such a little, practical light - and it's these little differences that can make or break a film in my opinion."

Perfectly-sized and with a built-in gel kit, it was my get-out-of jail card and always right there on my belt. “It was neat, punchy and saved time by the bucket load: small enough to hide behind an existing fitting to boost it, powerful enough to key on it’s own. When we wanted that little bit extra, wherever we wanted it and at whatever temperature we wanted it – clunk! Rotolight

I'm a big fan of a soft key light and a heavy backlight, and I wanted to soften the lens with a spotlight shining directly onto it from behind the subjects. The Anova was the perfect lamp for me. Being able to key the colour temperature up or down and change the intensity meant I didn't have to have bags full of diffusion and blues with me. In most cases I used the Anova as the key which created a lovely soft wash on the subjects' faces. I would couple this with a spotlight behind them. I'm not a big fan of 3 point lighting set ups, so with those two lamps I was ready to go.

If it was a very sunny day, I'd use the sun as a key (never battle the sun!), and get some backlighting or fill from the Anova. In California, I did once use the Anova as the key and had the subject backlit by the bright Cali sunshine, and it actually turned out really nice.

I'd recommend this light for anyone looking for a quick, simple to use but very effective interview set up. It's soft light is brilliant and it instantly cuts down the amount of cr*p you need to take with you on a shoot"

"I’ve spent most of my photography career outside of a studio. I divide my time shooting live music, my home town Toronto and every other city I travel to without additional lights. I left my comfort zone and embraced using artificial lights with Rotolight’s RL48 Interview Kit.
There’s barely any weight to the product and because of this I can pack them with all my lenses very easily once I’m ready to head out. Their running LED lights allow for quick shooting vs flashes that require time to refresh between quick bursts.
The kit comes equipped with filters to correct white balance and colored gels that can change the mood of any scene. Their stands allow me to mount one on top of my camera, while I direct any needed fill light by holding the other in hand. I can't believe it's taken this long to use artificial lighting in my photography work. I've welcomed artificial lighting into my photography work now using these Rotolights and I'll never look back"

"There's no question that these Anova lights can really change the way photographers work. The popular high-key, white background portraiture look of the last decade is giving way to a more artistic, sensitively lit style featuring shallow depth of field. It's about time we brought some art back into our work and these new Anova are perfect tools for the job."

One of the great advantages of using LEDs is that they produce little or no heat. For location shooters it's hard to beat the flexibility of the variable light temperature - and the Magic Eye feature makes mixing practical (available) light with the Anova's.

"Being able to simply vary the colour temperature and the light output of each head means that beautiful lighting doesn't have to be complicated. Being able to control them from an iPad or iPhone means that they can be mounted from the ceiling with cables rooted safely away from your clients."

"These are beautifully made and engineered lights. I strongly suggest you try them out for yourself."
