What made you pursue commercial photography?
I like problem solving. I’m given a brief by a client and then I figure out how we visualise it. The really interesting thing about commercial photography is the endless ways you can interpret the same thing, and any interpretation could be right but it all depends on what exactly it is the brand wants to be saying.
How do you prepare for a shoot?
Honestly, I think I over-prepare just a little bit. I make up for how calm I am during a shoot by being incredibly nervous beforehand; we have backups for every single piece of equipment, make sure I have battery operated lights just in case there’s a power failure, I think of solutions for every possible problem before I’m even on set… My assistants joke, but they’ve ended up doing the same thing.
How have Rotolight products helped you on set?
It’s rare for me not use at least one of our Rotolight Anova PRO 2s on every commission, indoors or outdoors. The Rotolight Anova PRO 2 with the 110 degree beam angle is fantastic for chromakey, and produces a beam of light that is both wide and powerful.
