Why do you enjoy working with Rotolight and how does it benefit your work?
As hybrid shooters who move between stills and video a powerful, portable, reliable yet creative continuous lighting system is absolutely essential. Rotolight makes working on location, under pressure, so much easier and has been a real game changer for us.
What has been your most memorable shoot?
The shoot that stands out was in the Seychelles. We were working with a family in a very intimate and personal way. The parents renewed their wedding vows in a beach ceremony and one of their daughters was also getting married. Over the 3 days we also did a family shoot with the eldest daughter (whose wedding we had previously shot in Italy), her husband and baby daughter and finally a shoot with the youngest daughter and her boyfriend. The backdrop was absolutely beautiful and there were so many special moments of human emotion and connection.
What advice would you give to people getting into photography?
The best advice we can give is to put huge energy and time into gaining experience and with it knowledge – it is so important because it gives you the confidence to know that you can handle whatever is thrown at you. The reality of high end weddings is that they are fast paced, there are no second chances and the light is rarely what you would choose. You have to be able to totally rely on your kit and know how to use it. Understanding light properly should be a top priority for anyone interested in working as a professional photographer.
