How did you get into photography?
My dad was a photographer. I remember, when I was seven I’d go with him on trips to the Carlsbad Caves in California and watch him shoot. I didn’t actually go pro until 2007 though when my wife volunteered me to shoot a wedding without me knowing!
What’s the most challenging shoot you’ve ever been on?
I recently went on the shoot from Hell – literally, the place is called Hell. It’s a rock formation on the Cayman Islands that is really dangerous to cross, especially carrying all our kit. A lot of the crew couldn’t make it all the way and had to head back – one guy even ripped his pants!
How is Rotolight different from other lights you’ve used?
Lighting is a photographer’s secret weapon. My Rotolights allow me to shoot exactly what I see rather than try over and over again to get it right which is really important to me, especially shooting weddings where time is limited.
Which Rotolight product is your favourite?
I use the whole range, but the NEO 2 has been a gamechanger for me. I can take it anywhere, mount it on my camera, and I’m never going to miss the special moment a bride and groom kiss because of the High Speed Sync flash and zero recycle time.
