Tell me about a particularly memorable shoot
The most memorable shoot was a wedding I photographed in the Maldives. The images you see published in magazines online don’t do this incredible place justice. Combined with the beautiful couple I had to work with, it was truly the most amazing experience in my career. The wedding was small, only ten guests, but I was able to document the incredible connection between the small group of people that travelled far and wide to share this very special day with the bride and groom.
What are the biggest challengers you face as a wedding and portrait photographer?
As a photographer photographing people for a living, you really need the ability to think on your feet. The unexpected will happen often. There is nothing you can do about it other than work quickly and efficiently so your experience is invaluable. You need to have the necessary communication skills and connect with your subject in very little time in order to capture a compelling portrait. The other challenge, especially as a wedding photographer, is that light on a wedding day, is not always perfect. Having the ability and the equipment to create and shape light in any situation is a must.
What is your Rotolight product of choice?
NEO 2 for all my wedding location work. This light is small, yet powerful with variable colour temperature allows me to work quickly and efficiently. When I need a larger more powerful light on location and in the studio, the AEOS is an excellent companion to the NEO 2.
